How to Choose a Garment Packaging Machine
Coil or perforated bags, top or bottom welding, manual or pneumatic? Five questions to ask when choosing a garment-on-hanger packaging machine, with a comparison of the series.
The right machine comes down to five questions: which bag you will use, which end of the bag is sealed, whether the machine is operated by hand or by compressed air, how many pieces you pack a day, and how much space your workshop has. We go through each one below.
1. Flat coil bags or perforated bags?
Machines working with flat coil bags — the KMA12 series (except the KMA12/DM) and the EKO12 series — make a bag of the required length from a single coil. You don’t need separate bag stock for each garment length; short and long garments are packed from the same coil.
Machines working with perforated roll bags — PND07, KRS06, ERS06 and the two-way ÇYM09 — use ready-perforated rolls. This is the first series Floktek produced.
If you later want to switch your coil bag machine to perforated bags, we can convert it for a reasonable fee.
2. Top welding, or top and bottom welding?
Top-welded models close the bag at the hanger end. The top-welded models of the EKO12 series are designed for hotels, dry cleaners and laundries.
Top and bottom welded models (PAK and AKM) close both ends of the bag, so the garment stays in a closed bag.
Bottom-welded models (PND07, KRS06, ERS06) close the lower end of the perforated bag.
3. Manual or pneumatic?
On manual models the operator makes the movement; no compressed air line is needed in your workshop.
Pneumatic models run on compressed air and need less effort from the operator. For safety they use a two-hand command and pedal synchronisation, keeping the operator’s hands out of the welding area.
4. How many pieces a day?
Daily output depends on the operator’s experience. The difference between the series is in the table below; the figure for each model is on its own page and in the model comparison table.
| Series | Bag type | Welding | Operation | Daily production | Wall-type models |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Industrial Packaging Machines6 models | Flat coil bag, Perforated roll bag | Top and bottom, Top | Pneumatic, Manual | 2,000–2,500 pcs | KMA 12 / DP, KMA 12 / DM |
| Perforated Packaging Machinery5 models | Perforated roll bag | Bottom | Pneumatic, Manual | 500–2,000 pcs | None |
| Economic Packaging Machines6 models | Flat coil bag | Top and bottom, Top | Pneumatic, Manual | 100–300 pcs | EKO12/DP, EKO12/DM |
5. How much space do you have?
Wall-type models (DP and DM) are mounted on the wall and take up no floor space. Footed models have a mobile frame and can be moved around the workshop.
A short cut by sector
- Textile and garment manufacturers, ironing & packing workshops: the KMA12 series if you use coil bags; PND07, KRS06, ERS06 or the wall-type KMA12/DM if you use perforated bags.
- Hotels, dry cleaners and laundries: the EKO12 series.
All our machines are our own patented design and come with a 3-year warranty. If you want to replace an old machine, see our machine exchange campaign.
Frequently asked
Can one machine pack garments of different lengths?
Yes. On coil bag models the bag length is adjustable, so you don’t need separate bag stock for each garment length.
What does a pneumatic machine need?
A compressed air line. We check together at the quotation stage whether your workshop’s air supply is suitable.
Can two people work on the same machine?
On the two-way ÇYM09 two people can work at the same time, packing two different products on one machine.
